Don’t Cnoc It

Posted in Podcasts on January 5th, 2009

There’s a saying, “Don’t knock it ’till you’ve tried it”. Well… we tried it. Maybe be we should have waited till after this round of tastings to pick this month’s show title.

This time around we taste the An Cnoc 12 year and the Knockando 1994 12 year and cover some listener feedback which includes an interesting book suggestion.

We also want to apologize for the audio quality of this months show. We had a host of technical difficulties. We hope to have things back to normal for next time when we’ll be tasting the Lagavulin 16 year and Caol Ila 12 year.

Promos: Scott Sigler’s Contagious - Arlene Radasky’s The Fox

Delay on January Show Release

Posted in Announcements on January 1st, 2009

Happy New Year!!

Well, it had to happen one day. The release of the January show is going to be delayed a few days. A technical problem with Michael’s microphone setup caused some audio issues that need to be resolved before the show is ready for the masses. Jeff is working his audio magic, and we hope to have the show ready by Monday. Thanks for your patience!

Jeff, Chip, & Michael

Northern Lights

Posted in Podcasts on December 1st, 2008

In Scotland, the northern lights were known as “the mirrie dancers” or na fir-chlis. There are many old sayings about them, including the Scottish Gaelic proverb “When the mirrie dancers play, they are like to slay.” The playfulness of the mirrie dancers was supposed to end occasionally in quite a serious fight. The appearance of the northern lights in the sky was considered a sign of the approach of unsettled weather. ~ from Wikipedia

It’s appropriate then, as the weather in the Midwestern United States turns blustery, that we settle in with this month’s “Northern Lights”, the Old Pulteney 17 year, and Balblair 16 year.

We have a special product review of “Ola Dubh” beer from Harviestoun Brewery, another thank you to say, and a new Scotchcast website resource to announce as well.

Next time we’ll be tasting the An Cnoc 12 year and the Knockando 1994 12 year.

The Scotchcast Special Edition #002

Posted in Podcasts on October 15th, 2008

During Dragon*Con 2008 we were lucky enough to be joined by several special guests for a “not scotch” scotch tasting of the Milford and Suntory Yamazaki. Great fun was had by all, especially us, as we tried not to go too fanboy over the guests we had with us. Much more was recorded than what we were able to include in this special episode so we may have an opportunity to post more of the fun in the future. For now though, we hope you enjoy this special “not scotch” episode of The Scotchcast, and don’t forget to join us in November for The People’s Choice show.
